What I do

The occasion, and everything behind it

An event is a set of decisions taken in advance. Who is in the room. What happens first. How long it runs. What the last thing is that people hear before they leave. Most of my work is taking those decisions early enough that the occasion itself has nothing left in it to go wrong, and then being the person who holds it together when something goes wrong regardless.

  • Conferences and summits

Programmes running over a single day or several, with speakers, delegates and a schedule that has to hold. I take on the venue, the suppliers, the running order and the team who deliver it on the day.

  • Weddings

A day that has usually been imagined for a year. I take the plan into my hands and manage it, so that the people it belongs to can be present at it rather than working through it.

  • Shows and launches

Concerts, product launches, exhibitions and openings. Occasions that depend on timing, on sound, and on what happens in the first ten minutes.

  • Private functions

Dinners, receptions, anniversaries and corporate away days. Smaller rooms and shorter guest lists, planned to the same standard as the large ones.
